However, frequent exercisers can tell you; tough workouts can take a visible toll on the skin. Sweat can clog pores and inflame the skin’s surface if it isn’t properly cleansed. Redness can also occur as a result of the body trying to cool itself down, as capillaries on the surface of your skin dilate. Acne breakouts and even fungal infections can be exacerbated if the skin isn’t properly cared for, according to Dr. Carol Cheng, M.D., pediatric dermatologist and assistant clinical professor at the UCLA dermatology division.

KEEP IT LIGHT
If you exercise with a lot of makeup on, you may run into a few problems. Occlusive makeup is a big nono! We recommend wearing lighter, oil-free makeup products on the days you work out. DON’T FEAR SWEAT
Make sure you don’t use sweat as an excuse for acne!
The root of all acne is a clogged pore, caused by a buildup of skin protein and bacteria in and around the hair follicles in your skin. However, because bacteria thrives in moist environments (like sweaty skin) and because you’re likely touching your face with dirty hands, you may be introducing more bacteria onto the surface of your skin.
As long as you cleanse both your hands and your face post-workout, you shouldn’t encounter many concerns.
