This week on our Instagram Live, we had the pleasure of hosting Sara-Jane Fitzpatrick of Colorescience: one of the most beloved suncare and skincare brands that we carry. When it comes to sunlight, pollution, free radicals, and more––no one does skin protection better than Colorescience! 

  

WHAT IS COLORESCIENCE ALL ABOUT?

The best defense against skin damage and photoaging is a mineral suncare offense. Mineral (also known as physical) sunscreens work by protecting your skin and physically reflecting UV light rather than absorbing it. Sara-Jane took the time to explain Colorescience’s patented EnviroScreen Technology, which is the basis of all their mineral sunscreen products. Essentially, she explained, minerals aren’t all made the same. It was important to develop a sort of molecular coding, if you will, to protect the skin from the high sunlight reactivity in zinc oxide and titanium dioxide (sunscreen’s top two ingredients). 

 

These two minerals are highly reactive to sunlight, and while they protect your skin from UV rays, they can cause the release of free radicals which we know are toxic to the skin. Colorescience’s innovative technology prevents this damage from happening, which is why they are so gentle on the skin and truly work.
