Eye Creams

Getting rid of under-eye, puffy eyes, or those pesky dark circles that seem to appear overnight can definitely feel daunting. Add to the fact that there is a panoply of eye creams out there to choose from––how can one even figure out which option is best?

To give you a little bit of extra guidance, we put together a list of the most common eye area concerns and some of the best professional-grade products that counteract them. Without further ado, read on below!

EYE BAGS & DROOPING

As you may already know, as you age, your skin weakens. This is entirely normal, and unfortunately, inevitable! This also means that the tissue structures and muscles supporting your eyelids weaken, causing the surrounding skin to sag. The fatty tissue that is normally confined to the area around the eye may eventually move to the area below your eyes, resulting in a puffy or swollen appearance.

While aging can’t be reversed (and should be embraced proudly!), we still have two great suggestions for those who wish to reduce the appearance of eye bags and drooping:

JAN MARINI C-ESTA EYE REPAIR CONCENTRATE - $88

EMINENCE ORGANICS SNOW MUSHROOM MOISTURE CLOUD EYE CREAM - $84

FINE LINES

Fine lines can start to appear in the early 20s and are oftentimes caused by harmful sun rays. Not only is the eye area incredibly thin, but it is also often neglected when applying sunscreen. UVA/UVB rays contribute to skin aging by accelerating the breakdown of collagen and elastin, leading to sagging under eye bags and the beginning of wrinkles.

The solution? Make sure to always gently pat on some SPF of at least 30 around your eye area. Another product we love to recommend is the Environ Vita-Peptide Eye Gel: this quick-absorbing, youth-enhancing eye gel contains a highly specialized combination of vitamins, antioxidants, and peptides that assist in reducing the visible signs of aging.

ENVIRON VITA-PEPTIDE EYE GEL - $130

DARK CIRCLES

The onset of dark circles can also appear in the early 20s as a result of lifestyle habits, such as poor sleep, excess screen time, allergies, eye strain, and/or sun exposure. They can also be blamed on genetics and ethnicity; in fact, those with darker skin tones are more prone to hyperpigmentation around the eye area.

For those with dark circle concerns, we love to recommend Vivier Skin’s Dark Circle Eye Cream. This is an eye cream that is suitable for all skin types, enriched with Vitamin K to minimize dark circles, puffiness, and fatigue––all while reducing the appearance of crow’s feet, fine lines, and wrinkles!

VIVIER DARK CIRCLE EYE CREAM - $84

PUFFINESS

Puffiness under the eyes can be a pesky annoyance. It is important to narrow down the potential causes of this puffiness, such as making sure that your thyroid and sinuses are properly functioning. These conditions can lead to inflammation that then manifests itself as fullness under the eyes. Excess alcohol, lack of water and sleep, and allergies can also be to blame.

If you experience frequent under-eye puffiness, we recommend the Physiodermie Eye Contour Micro-Gel. Not only does this eye gel reduce visible signs of eye contour aging, but it also helps to fight the appearance of wrinkles, under-eye puffiness, and dark circles around the eye area. We also love how deeply moisturizing it is!

PHYSIODERMIE MICRO-GEL EYE CONTOUR - $132.48

On that note, remember to keep in mind that the eye area is incredibly sensitive and always deserves extra TLC, no matter the age or skin type. For more on eye care, check out our past blog right here!

Until next time, take care of the skin you are in!
