The Oily Skin Profile

The Oily Skin Profile

Oily skin can be more than just a cosmetic concern; it often requires special care to keep it under control. If you've ever found yourself frustrated with excess oil or uncertain about where to begin when it comes to treating oily skin, this skin profile guide is for you––offering insights and two professional treatment regimens you can integrate into your daily routine.

SIGNS OF AN OILY SKIN PROFILE

One of the most tell-tale signs of oily skin is shine or a ‘greasy’ feeling on the cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin area within an hour of washing your face. Not to be confused with combination skin, which is characterized by an oily T-zone area (about 5 to 6 hours after washing).

Those with oily skin types are more likely to experience acne breakouts, with both blackheads and whiteheads. Enlarged pores can also be an indicator, and if your makeup doesn’t hold well and needs frequent touch-ups––your skin might be the oily type!

CAN YOU TREAT OILY SKIN?

The silver lining is that oily skin can absolutely be effectively managed through a well-chosen skincare regimen.

For example, opting for oil-free moisturizers and gentle cleansers can make a significant difference as they’ll provide essential hydration without adding excess oil, helping to maintain a less greasy complexion. It's also crucial to tread lightly when caring for oily skin; being too aggressive with stripping ingredients (such as alcohols, sulphates, and fragrances) can stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce even more oil.

If you’re ready to get a better handle on oily skin, we’ve put together 2 professional routines using all-BSE products to get you started with your treatment. Here are some options we’d recommend for an oily skin profile:
