There is an endless amount of things that cause our skin to age, with the most notable cause of them all being (evidently!) time. However, there are many extrinsic factors that can contribute to accelerated photoaging or the destruction of the precious molecules that keep our skin plump and glowing. 

 

Here are some things to watch out for in order to protect your skin for the long run:

 

SKIPPING THE SPF 

 

It’s straightforward and it’s simple: UV rays are the single biggest culprit in aging skin. Over time, the sun’s light destroys our skin’s fibers (AKA elastin). Their breakdown causes the skin to sag, stretch, wrinkle, and lose its tightness. 

 

To prevent such horrors, the easiest solution is to always apply an SPF of at least 30—rain or shine, and all year long! Sunscreen will not only prevent UVB sunburns, but also limit the photoaging (sun spots, fine lines, deep wrinkles, etc.) caused by UVA rays.
