Fall Routine Additions
We can feel it in the air already—cooler days are right around the corner!
Fall air brings lots of joy and comfort, but it should also bring a few changes to your skincare routine. Experts all agree that it is crucial to compensate for the change in temperature by adding more moisture to the skin and helping to retain it, for one.
When our skin starts to lose moisture, the barrier gets disrupted; this can cause increased sensitivity, dryness, irritation, new breakouts, fine lines, and more concerns.
So changing your skincare is not just a marketing trick—it's crucial for happy, healthy, skin all season. All skin types have different needs, but here is a list of a few skincare tweaks you can incorporate this autumn:
CLEANSE GENTLY
In the fall, you can swap gel cleansers for foam, cream or lotion-like cleansers. They both get the same job done, yet cream cleansers tend to be even gentler and leave the skin feeling less stripped. It is also important to monitor and potentially decrease the use of exfoliants and retinoids, humidity and warm temperatures usually buffer the irritating effects of topical retinoids and exfoliants.

MORE MOISTURE
If you don’t have a professional-grade moisturizer, you should by this fall! Now is the time to incorporate a high-quality, moisture-locking moisturizer that protects the skin barrier and is thicker in consistency than your summer moisturizer.
PHYSIODERMIE RECOVERY NIGHT MASK - $119.04
NELLY DE VUYST DRY SKIN CREAM - $103.60
You should also use a lip moisturizer and add an eye cream, especially if these two things weren't already a part of your skincare regimen. Even as you switch to a thicker moisturizer, adding these products moisturizes your lips and the skin around your eyes and helps with the sudden temperature transition.
ESTHEDERM CALMING EYE CONTOUR CREAM - $49
GLO SKIN BEAUTY PHYTO-ACTIVE EYE CREAM - $122
BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE BIOKISS LIP BALM - $72
And yes, this even applies to those with oily skin!
CONTINUE TO TREAT AND PROTECT
In the summer, your skin may have needed a corrective serum. but now that the fall air is drier, you may need to stack your serums with a hydrating one in order to make sure everything is getting properly absorbed. Vitamin C serums are also great to continue using in the fall: they even out summer skin pigmentation and help to boost collagen production resulting in a brighter complexion.
REJUDICARE 2CRM VITAMIN C & E - $144
And lastly: while UV radiation is greater during the summertime, it's still present throughout all four seasons. We recommend sticking to a daily SPF30 (at least) at all costs.
Until next time, take care of the skin you are in!
